The season’s first rail van carrying 12 tonnes of Kashmir’s juicy deep-red cherries departed for Mumbai from here early this morning.

Reacting to the Bill for removal of the PM, CMs and ministers who spend a month in jail on serious criminal charges, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday questioned the intent behind the move of the BJP-led central government.
Omar, replying to queries from media persons, said, “Till now, only opposition leaders have been targeted. What has been the impact of the efforts made by the government led by Prime Minister Modi since 2014 to eradicate corruption?” he asked, while questioning the government’s claims of fighting corruption.

The CM said, “No law is wrong in itself; however, they are often misused. I fear that this law will be misused. BJP will not remain in power forever. The law which they are using against others today, the same law may be used against them tomorrow”.

Omar said, “The expectations we had from this Parliament session on restoring J&K’s statehood have not been met. We will start our struggle from here. We felt the promises made to us would be implemented.”
